Lint in the duct slows the air, so the dryer runs longer. We clean the full duct and the outside vent so the moist air can get out.
A dryer that's hot to the touch usually has blocked airflow, and lint near heat is a fire risk. Stop using it until the vent is cleaned.
Lint, a bird nest or a stuck damper can block the outside vent. We clear it and replace the cover if it's broken.

Replacing crushed or plastic ducts or a broken wall vent is quoted separately, while roof vents above one storey and any gas connection work are outside our scope.
Why dryer vents need cleaning
The lint screen catches most lint, but not all of it. The rest builds up in the duct, especially at bends and on long runs. Over time this slows the dryer, wastes energy and creates a real fire risk, because lint burns easily and sits right next to the heat.

- A normal load needs more than one cycle to dry.
- The dryer or the clothes feel unusually hot.
- You smell something hot or burning when it runs. Stop using it.
- Lint collects around the outside vent, or the flap stays shut.
- The laundry room feels damp or warm after a load.
Duct type matters
Thin plastic or foil ducts crush easily and trap lint in their folds. A rigid or semi-rigid metal duct with as few bends as possible works best, and most dryer manuals list the maximum length. If your duct is damaged or too long, we show you and quote a replacement. With a gas dryer, a licensed gas technician must make any gas connection, and we tell you if one is needed.

Questions about dryer vent cleaning
How often should a dryer vent be cleaned?
For most households, about once a year. Large families, long duct runs or pets that shed a lot may need it more often.
Is cleaning the lint screen enough?
No. The screen catches most lint, but some always passes into the duct and builds up over time, especially at the bends.
Can you clean a vent that goes out through the roof?
We clean vents we can reach safely. Roof vents above a single storey are outside our scope, and we tell you before the visit if that's the case.
I have a gas dryer. Can you still clean the vent?
Yes, the vent is cleaned the same way. We don't touch the gas line; if it needs to be disconnected or moved, a licensed gas technician must do it.
My duct is the white plastic type. Is that a problem?
Plastic and foil ducts crush and trap lint, and many dryer makers don't allow them. We can replace yours with a metal duct, priced first.
