What does your grout look like?

Unsealed grout soaks up dirt and spills. We clean it with tools and cleaners made for grout, then seal it so it stays cleaner for longer.
Mildew grows on surface grout and caulk in damp showers. We clean it and replace mouldy caulk, but mould inside the wall is outside our scope.
Stains that cleaning can't lift can be covered with a colour sealer. It gives all the joints one even colour.

Why grout needs sealing
Grout is porous. Most cement grouts soak up water, soap and grease, which is why light grout slowly turns grey and shower corners get dark spots. Sealing doesn't make grout waterproof, but it slows down staining and makes everyday cleaning much easier.
Signs it's time
- Water darkens the grout instead of beading on it.
- Lines are darker in the busiest parts of the floor.
- Black or pink spots come back soon after you clean the shower.
- Caulk in the corners is stained or pulling away.
Clear or colour sealer
A clear sealer keeps the grout colour you have and protects it. A colour sealer coats the grout with a new, even shade, which helps when old stains won't come out. Many sealers need to be redone every year or two in showers, and less often on floors. If grout is cracked or missing, sealing won't fix it, and we suggest regrouting those sections instead.

Questions about grout cleaning and sealing
Is the cleaning safe for marble or natural stone?
Natural stone needs gentle, pH-neutral cleaners, as acids can etch it. We check your tile type before we start.
How long before I can use the shower?
Usually you need to keep it dry for some hours after sealing, depending on the product. We tell you the exact wait before we leave.
Will my grout look new again?
Most grout gets much lighter after a deep clean. Deep stains may stay, and in that case a colour sealer gives an even look.
How often should grout be sealed?
It depends on the sealer and how much water it sees. Showers usually need it more often than floors, and a few drops of water show you when: if they soak in, it's time.
What if the grout is cracked?
Cracked or missing grout should be replaced first. We point out those spots and price regrouting before we seal.
