What is your toilet doing?

A worn flapper or fill valve is the usual cause. We replace the worn part and adjust the water level so it stops.
The bolts may be loose or the floor uneven, and a rocking toilet can break the wax seal. We reset it on a new seal and level it.
Usually the wax seal under the toilet has failed or the supply line is dripping. We find the source and replace the seal or line, and if the floor underneath is soft, we show you before going further.

Repair or replace your toilet?
Most toilet problems come from a few small parts inside the tank or a worn seal under the base. Those can usually be repaired. Sometimes, though, replacing the toilet makes more sense than fixing it again.
Signs a new toilet is the better choice
- The bowl or tank is cracked, even with a hairline crack.
- It clogs often, even with normal use.
- Parts have been replaced several times and it still runs.
- It is an older model that uses much more water per flush.
What to expect with a replacement
Most new toilets fit the same drain, but the distance from the wall to the drain, called the rough-in, must match. We measure it before you buy. You can choose between standard and comfort height, round or elongated bowls, and single or dual flush. On the day, we remove the old toilet, check the flange, set the new one on a fresh seal and test it with several flushes.

Questions about toilet repair and replacement
Should I repair or replace my running toilet?
A running toilet usually needs only a new flapper or fill valve. If the toilet is cracked or keeps failing, replacing it is often the better choice.
Can you remove and take away my old toilet?
Yes. We disconnect it, remove it and take it with us when we install the new one.
How do I know which toilet will fit?
Measure from the wall behind the toilet to the centre of the bolts at the base. Most homes have a 12-inch rough-in, but we confirm it before you buy.
What if the floor around the toilet is soft?
A soft floor usually means water has leaked for some time. We show you what we find and price any flange or subfloor repair before doing it.
Can you fix a toilet that clogs all the time?
We can clear the toilet itself and check its parts. If the clog is deeper in the drain, it needs a plumber with drain equipment, and we tell you.
