Grab bar installation for seniors in Toronto
Is getting in and out of the tub or up from the toilet getting harder? We install grab bars where you actually need them, fastened into studs or solid backing, so they hold firm when you put your weight on them.
The price is agreed before we start. If we find something unexpected, we stop and show you first.

What is difficult in the bathroom?
Choose the one closest to your situation.
The wet tub edge is where many falls happen. A vertical bar at the entry and a horizontal bar on the long wall give you something solid to hold.
A bar beside the toilet, or a fold-down bar if there's no wall, helps you stand without grabbing the towel rack or the sink.
Towel bars aren't made to hold body weight and often tear out of the drywall. We replace them with real grab bars fixed into studs or blocking.

Where grab bars help most
Many bathroom falls happen while stepping over the tub edge, standing up from the toilet or turning in a wet shower. A grab bar in the right spot gives you a firm hold at exactly those moments. It only works if it's anchored properly, so where and how it's fastened matters as much as the bar itself.
Good places for a bar
- Vertical, at the entry of the tub or shower, to hold while stepping in.
- Horizontal or angled, along the long wall of the tub.
- Beside the toilet, on the wall or as a fold-down bar.
- Inside the shower, near the controls or a shower bench.
- By the bathroom door, if the floor is often wet.
What to expect
Grab bars come in many lengths, finishes and grip textures, and a textured grip helps with wet hands. Most bars mount into studs. When a stud isn't where the bar needs to go, we use anchors rated for grab bars or suggest adding blocking behind the wall. We set the heights to suit the person using them, not just a standard chart.

Questions about grab bar installation
Can grab bars be installed on tile?
Yes. We drill through the tile with a tile bit, fasten into a stud or rated anchor and seal each hole so water can't get behind.
How many grab bars do I need?
Most bathrooms benefit from one at the tub or shower entry, one on the long tub wall and one by the toilet. We suggest positions after seeing how you use the room.
What height should a grab bar be?
Horizontal bars are often set around 33 to 36 inches from the floor, but we adjust to the person's height and reach.
Can I use a suction-cup grab bar instead?
We don't recommend them for support. They can let go without warning, so they're only suitable for light balance, never to hold your weight.
What if there is no stud where the bar should go?
We use anchors rated for grab bars, or suggest adding wood blocking behind the wall, which is quoted separately.
