Quoted separately, only if you need it
Roof repairs and work on roof edges above a single storey are outside our scope, soffit and gutter replacement are quoted separately, and animal removal needs a wildlife control company.
How to tell if your fascia needs replacing
The fascia is the board along the edge of the roof that holds the gutters. It also closes off the roof edge from weather and animals. Because it sits right behind the gutters, it takes a lot of water when they overflow or leak.
Signs it's time
- Paint is peeling or the wood looks dark and stained.
- The gutter sags or pulls away from the house.
- Wood crumbles when you press it with a screwdriver.
- You see gaps, chewed edges or nesting material at the roof edge.
- Water runs behind the gutter instead of into it.
Wood or aluminum capping
Rotted sections are replaced with new wood. Many homeowners then choose aluminum capping over the fascia, which covers the wood and avoids repainting every few years. If the rot comes from a roof problem, such as a missing drip edge or damaged shingles, that needs fixing too, or the new board will rot again. We check the whole run, show you what we find, and agree on the price before we start.

Questions about fascia board repair or replacement
What causes fascia boards to rot?
Most often, water from clogged or leaking gutters, or a roof edge without a proper drip edge. Peeling paint also lets moisture into the wood.
Do you have to take the gutters down?
Usually only over the damaged section. We remove them, replace the fascia and put them back with secure hangers.
Should I cover the fascia with aluminum?
Capping protects the wood and means no more painting. The wood underneath has to be sound first, so we replace any rot before capping.
Can you work on a two-storey house?
Fascia on higher roof lines needs more access equipment, so we look at it first and quote it separately.
Can you replace just one section?
Yes, if the rest of the board is solid. We match the profile and finish so the new piece blends in.
