High foyer and stairwell lights need the right ladder and steady footing. We bring it, change all the bulbs at once and can switch you to longer-lasting LED bulbs.
We switch off the power, remove the broken base safely and check the socket for damage before putting in a new bulb.
Dust and cooking grease cloud the glass and crystals over time. We take down the shades or crystals, wash them by hand and put everything back in place.

Bulbs, dimmers and chandelier care
Light fixtures collect dust, insects and, near the kitchen, a thin layer of grease. On a chandelier that film can noticeably cut the light. High fixtures also tend to get ignored because changing one bulb means hauling out a tall ladder.
Signs it's time
- Several bulbs in the same fixture have burned out.
- Glass shades look cloudy or hold dead insects.
- LED bulbs flicker or buzz on a dimmer.
- A chandelier sways or hangs crooked from the ceiling.
- The fixture or canopy looks scorched near a bulb. Switch it off and leave it off until it's checked.
Choosing bulbs and fixtures
When we're up on the ladder, it usually makes sense to change all the bulbs at once so they match in colour and brightness. LED bulbs last much longer than old incandescent ones, but not every LED works well on an older dimmer, so we check the bulb label and the switch. A heavy new chandelier may need a ceiling box rated for its weight. We check before hanging it and tell you if anything extra is needed.

Questions about light bulb and chandelier replacement and cleaning
Why do my LED bulbs flicker on the dimmer?
Many older dimmers were made for incandescent bulbs. We check that the bulbs are marked dimmable and, if needed, suggest a dimmer that suits LEDs.
How do you clean a crystal chandelier?
We switch off the power, take down the crystals or shades, wash them by hand and rehang them in the same pattern. Delicate pieces are handled one at a time.
Can you hang a heavier chandelier than the old one?
Often yes, but the ceiling box and bracket must carry the weight. We check them first and tell you if a stronger box is needed before we hang it.
Can you reach a light over the stairs?
Yes. We set up a ladder that sits safely on the stairs or in the foyer, and protect the floors and walls while we work.
Should I switch to LED bulbs?
In most fixtures, yes: they use less power and last much longer. We match the colour so the room doesn't look different from one bulb to the next.
