Limewash is a mineral paint made from slaked lime and natural pigments. Instead of forming a film like regular paint, it soaks into the surface and dries to a soft, matte, slightly uneven finish. That variation is the look people want, but it is not for everyone.

Questions about limewash paint
Can limewash go over regular paint?
Not directly. Painted walls need a mineral primer first so the limewash can grip, and very glossy paint may need sanding.
Is limewash washable?
Not like regular paint. It can be wiped gently, and a sealer helps in areas that get touched or splashed, though it can change the look slightly.
Can I use limewash in a bathroom or kitchen?
It can work away from direct splashing, usually with a sealer. We look at the room and tell you if another finish would hold up better.
Why does the colour look lighter once it dries?
Limewash dries several shades lighter than it looks wet. That is why we make a sample board and let it dry before you decide.
Can limewash be used outside?
Yes, on brick, stone and other masonry. Outdoor jobs depend on the surface and the weather, so we assess them at the visit.
