What makes Venetian plaster different
Venetian plaster is a lime-based finish applied in several very thin layers with a steel trowel. Each layer is pressed and burnished, which gives the wall a sense of depth and a smooth, cool feel, close to polished stone. It is a hand-applied finish, so every wall is a little different.

We start with a visit and a sample board so you can see the colour and finish in your own space before you decide.

Can Venetian plaster go on drywall?
Yes, once the drywall is flat, sound and primed with a suitable primer. We check the wall and repair it first.
Is Venetian plaster suitable for a bathroom?
It can be, away from direct water, with a wax or sealer to protect it. Inside a shower, another finish is usually a better choice.
How shiny will it be?
You choose. The more it is burnished, the higher the shine, and the sample board shows the options.
Can it be repaired if it gets damaged?
Small dents and marks can often be patched and burnished again, though a repair may be slightly visible up close.
How is it different from limewash?
Both are lime-based, but Venetian plaster is trowelled and polished to a smooth, stone-like sheen, while limewash is brushed on for a soft, matte look.
