Why drains clog and when a leak is serious
Most slow drains are caused by a build-up close to the sink or tub: hair, soap scum, grease or food. Most small leaks come from connections under the sink that have loosened or worn out. Both are usually simple to fix when caught early.

Chemical cleaners and bigger problems
Chemical drain cleaners can damage older pipes and make the job harder for whoever opens the trap next. A plunger or a drain strainer is a safer habit. If several drains back up at once, or water comes up through a floor drain, the problem is likely further down the main line, which is outside this service. If you see water coming from a wall or ceiling, shut off the water and contact us so we can tell you which trade you need.

Do you use chemical drain cleaners?
We prefer not to. Cleaning the trap by hand or using a drain snake clears the clog without harming the pipes.
Can you fix a leak inside the wall?
Pipes behind walls are outside this service. If we find the leak comes from inside the wall, we stop and tell you so you can call a plumber.
Why does my sink smell even when it drains?
Debris in the trap or the overflow can hold odours. Cleaning both usually solves it.
My bathtub drains slowly. Can you clear it?
Yes. Tub drains often collect hair at the stopper, so we remove the stopper, clean the drain and put it back.
What if the pipe under my sink is cracked?
We replace the cracked trap or tailpiece with new parts and test it for leaks.
