What is your alarm doing?
Choose the one closest to your situation.
A chirp usually means a low battery or an alarm at the end of its life. We replace the battery or the whole unit and check the date on the back.
Most smoke alarms are made to last about 10 years, and CO alarms 7 to 10. We read the date on each unit and replace the ones that are out of date.
When one interconnected alarm sounds, the others should too. Mixed brands or a faulty base can break that link, so we replace them with compatible units.
Tell us what you see or hear. Write it in the booking form or message us on WhatsApp, and we'll tell you what it is.

Where smoke and CO alarms should go
In Ontario, every home must have a working smoke alarm on every storey and outside each sleeping area. Homes with a fuel-burning appliance, a fireplace or an attached garage must also have carbon monoxide alarms near sleeping areas. Alarms wear out, so a unit that still beeps when tested may be past its safe life.
Signs it's time to replace them
- The date on the back is more than 10 years old, or there is no date at all.
- The alarm chirps even with a new battery.
- The cover has turned yellow.
- A floor or a bedroom hallway has no alarm.
- Hardwired alarms don't all sound when one is tested.
Choosing alarms
Combination smoke and CO alarms save ceiling space. Hardwired alarms usually have a battery backup and can be linked so all of them sound at once. Smart alarms can send a warning to your phone. When we replace hardwired units, we match the connector or swap the base. We explain each option and its price before you decide.

Questions about smoke and carbon monoxide detector installation
How many alarms does my home need?
At least one smoke alarm on every floor and outside each sleeping area, plus CO alarms near bedrooms if you have gas heat, a fireplace or an attached garage. We walk through the home and point out any gaps.
Can you replace hardwired alarms with a different brand?
Yes. Brands use different connectors, so we change the base too. If several alarms are linked, we replace them together so they still work as one system.
Should I get combination smoke and CO alarms?
They save space and work well in hallways near bedrooms. Some people prefer separate units so one can be replaced without the other. Both are fine.
Can you set up smart smoke alarms?
Yes. We install them and connect them to the app on your phone with you.
Do you just change batteries?
We can replace batteries during the visit, but we also check the date, because an expired alarm needs replacing even with a fresh battery.
