What is happening with the wallpaper?

Old paste dries out and the seams lift first. We remove the paper completely so the seams don't show through new paint.
Pulling off dry wallpaper often rips the paper face of the drywall. We seal the torn areas with a sealing primer and skim them smooth.
Painted wallpaper is harder to strip because water can't soak through. We score and soften it, then remove it section by section.

What to expect when removing wallpaper
Every wallpaper job is different, because it depends on what is underneath. Some paper peels off in long strips. Other walls hide two or three layers, paint over paper, or drywall that was never primed, so the paper is stuck to the wall's own surface.
Signs the wall needs more than stripping
- Brown paper shows through where the wallpaper came off.
- The surface feels rough or bubbly after it dries.
- Cracks or holes were hidden behind the paper.
- Old texture or patches don't match the rest of the wall.
Why glue removal matters
If wallpaper paste is left on the wall, new paint often cracks or wrinkles as it dries. Washing the wall and priming it prevents that. Where the drywall paper has torn, we seal it before skimming, because water-based compound alone can make it bubble. Older homes with plaster walls need a slightly different repair, and we tell you what we find. We agree on the work and price before we start.

Can you paint over wallpaper instead of removing it?
It's possible but not recommended. Seams and bubbles usually show through the paint, and removing the paper later becomes harder.
How long does wallpaper removal take?
It depends on the size of the room, how many layers there are and how the paper was hung. We give you an estimate after we see the wall.
What if the drywall gets damaged?
Some tearing is common. We seal the torn areas and skim them so the wall ends up smooth.
Do you remove wallpaper borders too?
Yes. Borders come off the same way, and we repair the line they leave on the wall.
