What did the water leave behind?
Choose the one closest to your situation.
A stain shows where water came through. We check that the area is dry, seal the stain so it won't bleed through, and repair any damaged drywall.
Bubbling paint means moisture got behind it. Once the wall is dry, we remove the loose paint and compound and rebuild the surface.
MDF and wood trim swell when they soak up water and rarely go back. We replace the damaged pieces and check the drywall behind them.

What to do after a leak
Water damage often looks smaller than it is. Water runs along framing and soaks into drywall, insulation and trim, sometimes well away from the stain you can see. Repairing too early, before everything is dry, traps moisture inside the wall.
Signs the damage goes further
- Drywall feels soft or crumbles when pressed.
- Paint bubbles or peels in a line along the wall or ceiling.
- Baseboards or door trim have swollen or split.
- A musty smell stays in the room after the leak has stopped.
- The stain grows or darkens after rain or a shower upstairs.
The right order
First, the source of the leak has to be fixed by the right trade, such as a plumber or roofer. Next, the area needs to dry fully, which can take several days. Then the damaged drywall and trim can be replaced and finished. If mould is spreading or the damage covers a large area, a remediation company should deal with it first. We tell you honestly what we find and agree on the repair before we start.

Questions about water damage repair
Can you repair the damage before the leak is fixed?
No. If the leak is still active, the new drywall will be damaged again. We start once the source is fixed and the area is dry.
Can I just paint over a water stain?
Regular paint usually lets the stain bleed through. If the drywall is still solid, a stain-blocking primer before painting solves it.
Do you deal with mould?
Small surface marks can be cleaned during the repair. Mould that has spread inside walls or over a large area needs a remediation company, and that is outside our scope.
Will my baseboards need replacing?
Swollen or split baseboards usually do. We try to match the profile of your existing trim so the new pieces blend in.
How do I know the wall is dry enough?
We check the drywall and framing before we start. If they are still damp, we wait, because closing up a wet wall can lead to mould.
