Furniture Staining & Refinishing

Detailed Description
Restoring or enhancing your furniture shouldn’t be complicated. At CNG Contracting, we make Furniture Staining & Refinishing simple, delivering results that are beautiful, durable, and carefully executed.
Our process starts with a thorough inspection and preparation of each piece—stripping old varnish, meticulous sanding, and repairing any scratches or imperfections to create a smooth surface. We help you select the right stain or finish (oil-based, water-based, or lacquer) to match your Toronto & GTA home's décor and protect your furniture for years to come. During refinishing, we focus on even coverage to avoid blotches or streaks. Each piece is handled with care to preserve its character while giving it a refreshed, polished look. Frequently Asked Questions
Can you change the color of my table?
Yes. To change the color, we must strip the old finish down to bare wood. Then, we can apply a new stain—whether you want to go from dark mahogany to a modern light oak, or vice versa.
Do you fix wobbly legs or scratches?
Absolutely. Structural repair is part of the process. We re-glue loose joints, fill deep gouges with wood filler, and sand everything smooth before applying the new finish.
How long does the finish take to cure?
While it may feel dry to the touch in a few hours, most high-quality polyurethanes or lacquers require 24 to 48 hours to cure hard enough for light use, and up to a week for full hardness.
Why is a Technical Visit necessary?
Refinishing is risky if you don't know what lies beneath the surface. Many modern "wood" tables are actually thin wood veneers over particle board. Aggressive sanding on veneer will burn right through to the glue, ruining the piece permanently. Our Furniture Staining & Refinishing assessment identifies the wood type (Solid vs. Veneer) and the existing finish chemistry to determine the safest stripping and sanding method for your specific item.
